Finland’s Kruunutekniikka Oy seized an opportunity for such an innovation: reengineering the critical heat sink that protects heat-sensitive LED components.
While LED light bulbs can use up to 80 percent less energy than incandescent bulbs and can last more than 20 years, they generate a substantial amount of heat that must be dissipated with a heat sink.
The company’s product engineers developed specifications that included thermal conductivity in plane from 4 to 21 W/m.K (in compliance with ASTM E1461); glow wire resistance of 850°C/0.8mm (IEC 606095-2-12); and enough dimensional stability to allow it to be overmolded directly on LED components.

Joule RHB products can also be especially useful in
enabling thick walled or complex bottle structures
to be successfully blown; improving the material
distribution through a more even heat uptake
throughout the polymer matrix has been proven
to be beneficial in solving or easing many common
blowing processing issues.
The additive is not soluble in MEG, but is very
thermally heat stable and at the low ppm addition
levels commonly used has no measurable impact
on the polymer process other than that coming
from the blue tint introduced into the polymer.
Joule RHB additive is available in a small number
of varying package types and weights.

The flakes are then heated to over 400 degrees Fahrenheit (F)
for several hours.
Next, the heated rPET is stretched into long thin cables, cooled, and
chopped into pellets.
Perfect for Food & Beverage
PET and rPET are non-toxic, do not react with foods, and provide thermal
insulation.

Joule RHB offers energy gains and raw material savings throughout multiple processing steps by improving infra-red energy absorption.
Joule RHB is approved for PET food contact applications in China up to a level of 20ppm, and for temperature conditions equal to the U.S.
