FireCon™
THERMOPLASTIC CPE-A
PROCESSING GUIDE
General Extrusion Guidelines
FireCon™ Thermoplastic CPE-A is a flexible thermoplastic chlorinated polyethylene blend designed for industrial
instrumentation, power, and control cables.
A deeper mandrel and slotted breaker plate may be necessary to reduce head pressure.
Drop all heating sections 50°F–100°F during extended
downtime, die changes, etc. or keep bleeding if possible.

These additive concentrates can improve the extrusion process by reducing melt fracture and die build-up and by increasing the line speed.

This process starts with tows of continuous fiber which are pulled from creels through a proprietary impregnation die where the fiber becomes melt impregnated with thermoplastic polymer.
A compounding extruder connected to the impregnation die functions as a melt pump feeding molten thermoplastic polymer into the process.
Instead of simply coating fiber tows with polymer – inside PlastiComp’s impregnation die individual filaments in the fiber tows are spread apart so each is encapsulated with thermoplastic polymer.

Processing aids
can be used to achieve an improved surface finish,
expanded heat processing window, elimination of
die drool, and higher line speeds.
Applied in fluoropolymer films, SiteCool additive
solutions help reduce the amount of energy required
to cool stadiums, shopping malls, and other large
indoor facilities.
