Avient
determined that the manufacturer required a material
with a unique combination of properties, including:
• Processing ease – high flow rate, ability to fill
multi-cavity molds, thin-wall capabilities
• Superior toughness – strength and durability to
ensure dimensional integrity of the part
• Repeatable performance – consistent conductivity
for accurate measurement of liquids
While several off-the-shelf compounds were evaluated,
a new formulation was developed to meet the
manufacturer’s specific needs as well as provide
signifi cant benefi ts in reduced cycle time, increased
production and reduced scrap rate.
THE IMPACT
For the manufacturer, Trilliant™ HC specialty engineered
materials provided a number of advantages that
contributed to the success of the new product line:
• Reduced Cycle Time: The high flow properties
of the Trilliant HC formulation allowed the
manufacturer to produce warp-free parts that
require less packing and cooling time, resulting
in a 40% cycle time reduction

An award-winning group of highly experienced
industrial designers, design engineers and prototyping
technicians, Avient Design helps customers with all
aspects of new product development, from concept to
production.
Due to the success of this
project, the new, lighter heat sink made from Therma-
Tech conductive thermoplastics has been rolled out
across multiple vehicle models.

Manufacturers
are always looking for new and striking color
combinations and special effects for packaging.
This new color and special effects option helps
polymer packaging do just that.

A NEW PCR COLORATION TOOL
Avient has developed a digital tool to help assess
the impact of colored, recycled resins (PCR) prior to
laboratory trials.
It can also help
shorten launch time for new product ranges,
allowing fast and reliable checks prior to initiating
sample development.

To develop a high-end version with
additional features, the design team was seeking a
new material.
The new material, a GLS™ thermoplastic elastomer (TPE)
from Avient, met the rigorous needs of the high-end rifle
manufacturer, and then some.
