Homepage // News Center // PolyOne Develops High-Performing Plasticizer Alternative for Flexible PVC CLEVELAND – PolyOne announced today the commercial availability of SynPlast™ L9TM plasticizer, containing equivalent performance characteristics to 810TM linear plasticizer. When 810 alcohol became scarce in 2013, a global supply shortage of 810TM plasticizer spurred a need for alternatives.

Polyvinyl chloride (PVC) plasticizers, such as dioctyl phthalate (DOP), should not be used as carriers. Slower fill rates may be required if surface flow defects occur. Soft GLS TPEs have very low viscosity (high flow), thus they require minimal injection pressure.

Adding a texture as light as 0.001” can help to hide flow marks, weld lines, and may aid in lowering the cycle time of creating a product. They should be located at the end of flow or around the perimeter of the part, if possible.  Matte surfaces can also help to hide any flow marks or other surface defects.
