Design,
functionality, asthetics, performance needs and value addition have opened the rigid substrate
selection from commodity plastics to various engineering thermoplastics and their alloys.
In
addition the diffusion, viscoelastic properties of the elastomer have an influence on the adhesion
properties as well.
Bonding of TPE
with a particular polyamide chemistry is also affected by the additives packages, such as heat
stabilizers, glass fibers, flow modifiers, impact modifiers and pigments.

consumers through sensory marketing, which utilizes
subconscious triggers that appeal to the basic senses.
In addition to cost savings, replacing metal would enable
the closure producer to provide its spirits customers with
customization in density and color, because Gravi-Tech
formulations are colorable, and can be tuned to replicate
up to 5 times the density of traditional polymers.

even if it could find the right TPE, the company was
concerned about the additional cost of new tooling, and
wanted to achieve a rapid return on its investment.
In addition to a lower material cost
than silicone, the Avient solution offered cycle time
efficiencies, lower part weight due to its lower specific
gravity, and reduced scrap rates.

In addition, the GLS TPE from Avient passed migration,
extraction and sensory testing by Nehring Institute as
required by food contact regulations (EU) 10/2011 and
FDA 177.1210.

not providing sufficient quantities of the material
consistently, threatening the manufacturer’s ability
to meet its own customer’s needs on time.
In addition to its excellent colorability and high flow,
the Versalloy solution possessed a lower specific gravity
and resulted in lower scrap rates compared to the
competitive TPV, providing the opportunity to reduce
system costs.

concentrates based on bio-polymers to minimize
the risk of non-compliance and support a more
sustainable profile for plastic products used in the
healthcare industry.
