The mold is then
opened and the core plate is rotated and the second material is injected from the
secondary rubber system.
If the part
requires the use of thick sections, they should be cored out to minimize
shrinkage problems and to reduce the part weight and cycle time.
Properly
designed deep undercuts however are possible with GLS over-mold compounds
if an advancing core is used when the mold opens and the part does not have
sharp corners and the elastomer is allowed to deflect as it is ejected.
