History
Kevlar® was first developed by chemist Stephanie Kwolek at DuPont™ in the
1930’s.
It was first commercially used in the 1970’s as a replacement for steel in
racing tires.
They also add important characteristics, such as
SWELLCOAT® water-blocking, water repellence, adhe-
sion, color, and wear and UV-resistance to these and
many other applications.
