Long Fiber Reinforced Composites Incorporating Recycled Resin
The Complēt™ REC portfolio consists of long fiber
reinforced composites incorporating post-consumer
recycled (PCR) nylon 6 resin, post-industrial
recycled (PIR) nylon 66 resin, and PIR thermoplastic
polyurethane (TPU) resin.
These resin sources provide sustainable options for
applications that require excellent structural and
toughness capabilities while offering comparable
performance to standard long fiber materials.

Long fiber composites can be custom formulated with varying levels of
recycled resin as well as varying levels of fiber reinforcement to balance

THE SOLUTION
Avient recommended Bergamid™ B70 G30H black TM-X PA 6
resin with 30 percent glass fiber reinforcement for its excellent
mechanical properties and cost benefits.
HellermannTyton decided to develop the seat securement
part using injection-molded Bergamid resin in a standard
black color.
Further, the material costs for Bergamid resin are lower
than those of bent steel plate.

PSU resin has the lowest
temperature requirements, but provides the
highest clarity.
FEATURES AND COLORS
PSU, PES and PPSU masterbatches are manufactured
using 100% prime virgin resin.
Ten standard colors are available for each type of
resin.

Gravi-Tech™ REC recycled formulations are density
modified engineered polymers based on recycled
resin and/or recycled filler from post-industrial
recycled (PIR) and/or post-consumer recycled (PCR)
sources.

A challenge faced when coloring PCR resins include
recyclate materials with an undertone or opacity
that can restrict color options in PET, rPET and rPP.
A NEW PCR COLORATION TOOL
Avient has developed a digital tool to help assess
the impact of colored, recycled resins (PCR) prior to
laboratory trials.
It can be utilized on a colored resin of any given
shade, and aims to decrease complexity when
different grades of PCR are used.
