Mevopur™ Healthcare Functional Additives
Laser Welding Additives for Medical Devices
Laser welding has become a technology of choice
to join plastic parts of complex medical devices.
Avient uses a “systems approach” to develop the
laser welding solution most adapted to your project,
taking into consideration the following aspects:
• Transmitting and absorbing parts
• Polymer type and grade
• Dispersion of the additive in the final part
• Sufficient and consistent loading of the additive
• Part design: attention to flow separation at the
welding interface
• Color and opacitiy
• Quality control – e.g. establish suitable control
parameters (UV Visible Spectra)
• Laser wavelength and processing parameter
Mevopur™ Healthcare Functional Additives
formulated for laser welding are designed for use
in healthcare applications.
KEY CHARACTERISTICS
• Manufactured at four ISO 13485 certified sites,
providing global consistency and increased
security of supply
• Documented change control beyond CAS
number, reducing risk of change
• Available as additive concentrates, ready-to-use
additive formulations or ready-to-use additive/
colorant formulations for different polymers
REGULATORY SUPPORT
• Raw materials tested to:
- ISO 10993-1 and USP biological
evaluation
- European Pharmacopeia 3.1.3/3.1.5
(polyolefin)
- USP (polyethylene)
- ICH Q3D elemental impurities
• Registered Drug Master File (Type III) and/or
Device Master File
• Food contact established with FDA/EU*

Fortunately, there are several kinds
of additives that don’t affect future recyclability of PET that can used during
processing to correct for this yellowing.
Similar to the ones that correct yellowing, there are special additives that
“scavenge” or otherwise reduce the levels of acetaldehyde.
In addition, chain extender
additives can improve IV for better strength and performance.

Avient offers a comprehensive portfolio of colorants and additives for nonwovens
in the form of concentrates.
Custom color, additive or color/additive combination
concentrates can be developed to meet the specific requirements of your application.
Electret additives
help retain the electrostatic charge on the
polymer surface for for longer periods of
time.

Cesa™ Fiber Additives
Antimicrobial Additives for Synthetic Fibers and Nonwovens
Bacteria and other microorganisms can cause
unpleasant odor, discoloration and even
degradation of surface qualities in textiles and
nonwovens.
The Cesa™ Fiber Additives portfolio
includes antimicrobial concentrates that help
prevent these problems by limiting the growth of
microorganisms.
The additive concentrates are highly
recommended for applications requiring long-term
protection in textiles made of PP, PET, and PA.
