ANAHEIM, Calif. – January 28, 2025 – Avient Corporation, an innovator of materials solutions, will exhibit at MD&M West next week, one of the leading medical device trade shows in the U.S., highlighting its growing portfolio of technologies tailored to meet the distinct needs and regulatory challenges of healthcare manufacturers. This includes introducing Cesa™ Non-PFAS Low-Retention Additives and launching an expanded NEUSoft™ Thermoplastic Polyurethanes (TPUs) portfolio with an express color palette.

NEW – Cesa Non-PFAS Low-Retention Additives are newly introduced and will be available soon. Manufactured without intentionally added per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS)-based or fluorinated raw materials, they offer a more sustainable solution developed with evolving regulatory requirements in mind. These additive concentrates and pre-compounds enhance hydrophobicity in injection-molded polypropylene components, delivering high-performance water, solvent, and lab solution repellency. Useful for labware and pipette tips, they eliminate the need for secondary low-retention coatings, enabling precise fluid dispensing with virtually no residual liquid left behind.

NEWLY EXPANDED – NEUSoft TPUs are now available in 14 standard colors in the U.S. with a planned 14-day lead time for time-sensitive development projects. The NEUSoft express colors offer high-performance TPUs in neat or 20% barium sulfate-filled formulations. As with other NEUSoft products, which recently extended manufacturing to China, they provide excellent flexibility, clarity, and durability for a wide range of catheters and in-vivo applications.

Additional examples of Avient’s comprehensive portfolio of colorants, functional additives, engineered materials, and world-class services featured at the show include:

  • 3D Molding and Design Services from Avient Design: These services accelerate product development with advanced design simulation and 3D printing technologies to provide accurate predictions of performance, as well as cost-effective and functional prototypes to help optimize part design.
  • Colorant Chromatics™ Transcend™ Premium Healthcare Colorants: These high-temperature formulations are engineered to provide vivid, biocompatible colors for medical devices. Based in polysulfone resins, these sophisticated options are well-suited for demanding and reusable applications subject to multiple sterilization cycles and harsh cleaning agents.
  • Mevopur™ Healthcare Colorants, Functional Additives, and Bio-based Formulations: Manufactured across a global network of ISO 13485 facilities, this broad portfolio is pre-tested to United States Pharmacopeia (USP) Class VI, ISO 10993, USP 661, European Pharmacopeia 3.1, and International Conference on Harmonization (ICH) Q3D protocols. Mevopur colorants can be used for various needs, such as brand recognition and differentiation, drug identification, and visual appeal. Likewise, Mevopur functional additives can help to protect or enhance the performance of polymers used in medical devices, diagnostics, or pharmaceutical packaging. The Mevopur product line also includes color and additive concentrates based on polymers with 70%-100% bio-content and pre-tested raw materials which can help to reduce carbon footprint and offer alternatives to fossil-based grades.
  • Stan-Tone™ HC Plus Silicone Dispersions for Healthcare: These liquid silicone rubber (LSR) and high-consistency silicone rubber (HCR) dispersions provide excellent lightfastness, resistance to harsh chemicals, and heat stability. Pre-tested for USP Class VI compliance, they are excellent for use in specialty medical devices, surgical devices, and other vital healthcare applications.
  • Trilliant™ HC Healthcare Thermoplastics: These chemically resistant thermoplastics can withstand harsh environments, offering excellent toughness and durability for medical devices and components. This includes Trilliant HC8910 glass-filled polyketone (PK) formulations with a lower carbon footprint than traditional nylon (PA6 and PA66) formulations for a high-performance alternative in applications such as biopharmaceutical clamps. Another sustainable portfolio example is Trilliant XR lead-replacement thermoplastics, which achieve critical radiation shielding protection yet avoid the regulatory, disposal, and employee exposure challenges associated with lead.
  • Versaflex™ HC and Versaflex HC BIO Thermoplastic Elastomers (TPEs): These specialty TPE formulations offer versatile and customizable performance for medical and biopharmaceutical tubing, device overmolds, and injection molded applications. Available in a variety of durometers and performance characteristics, the product family includes grades formulated without animal derivatives and a bio-based Versaflex HC BIO BT218 formulation developed specifically to handle the complexities of biopharmaceutical tubing (excellent weldability, kink resistance, and low levels of leachables and extractables) with a lower carbon footprint than traditional Versaflex HC TPE or silicone alternatives.

Avient’s sales and technical teams will be at booth 2515 to answer questions and discuss material and application challenges. MD&M West will be held February 4–6 at the Anaheim Convention Center.
